Our Five Senses

One of my New Year's resolutions this year is to update our class blog more!  I am going start off by catching you all up on what we were up to this quarter.  We did a big unit on our 5 Senses.  It was so much fun!  I got the lessons and activities from Kindergarten-Kindergarten.com's 5 Senses unit.  You can find it here on Teachers Pay Teachers!

We did so many fun things during this unit but unfortunately I forgot to take pictures!  Here is one of our culminating activities we did after learning about sense of smell.  We learned that our nose smells things and sends the information to our brain so that our brain can make decisions.  This was true of all of our five senses.  We talked about how our senses help keep us safe.  To test our sense of smell, we made some scratch and sniff art!  It was so much fun!  We mixed flavored gelatin with a bit of water and glue and painted the pictures with the appropriate mixture.  We let them dry overnight and the next morning, we were able to scratch and smell the pictures.  It really worked!  Check out some of our art below!

Here are a few of the anchor charts we made during our unit.
