Wow!  We had a great first two days of school this week!  We were so busy that I forgot to take pictures! :)

On our staggered days we spent a lot of time getting to know each other.  We read "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn.  It is about a raccoon named Chester who is nervous about his first day of school.  His mom helps calm his nerves by telling him a secret called the kissing hand.  She kisses the palm of his hand, which makes him feel warm and cozy.  Then whenever he feels homesick, all he has to do is put his hand to his cheek and he remembers how much his mommy loves him.  It is a great story for the beginning of the year.

After we read the story, Ms. Crawford told us that she thought she had seen Chester running down the hallway.  We decided that we should try and find him.  First we went to the library to ask Mrs. Parker, our school librarian, if she had seen him.  She said that he ran by but she couldn't catch him.  He did leave us a clue though.  We also found clues in the office, gym, cafeteria, computer lab, art room, and music room!  Chester had us going all over the school!  When we got back to our classroom, we found a picture of Chester at our seats.  That sneaky raccoon!  We never did find Chester, but we had a great time looking for him!

Next week we will continue to get to know each other.  We will read "Chrysanthemum" by Kevin Henkes and compare our names.  We will also begin working with the letters Aa, Bb, and Cc.  I look forward to a wonderful week!

Welcome to Kindergarten!

Hi!  My name is Ms. Crowley and I am so excited to be joining the Eaton family this year! More importantly, I am thrilled to be your teacher! It is going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures!  I can't wait to get to know you all, but first I am going to share a few things about myself.

I was born and raised here in Wilmington.  I am blessed with a large and loving family.  I have a twin brother, a younger brother, three step brothers, and one stepsister.  There was never a dull moment growing up and holidays tend to be quite chaotic, but I love it!  During my junior year of high school my family moved to Greensboro, NC. After graduation I moved back to Wilmington to attend UNC Wilmington.  I majored in Elementary Education with a minor in Psychology and I couldn't wait to graduate and begin teaching!

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, reading, shopping, traveling, making Pinterest projects, and playing with my three year old lab, Eliza.

This is my second year teaching Kindergarten and my first year at Eaton.  I absolutely love teaching Kindergarten and can't wait to begin this exciting journey with you and your child!
