Election 2012

On Thursday our school participated in Kids Voting North Carolina.  The entire school got to vote.  The 3-5 students used iPads to cast their votes.  K-2 used paper ballots.  Before voting, we talked about our two choices.  I asked the kids who was running and my favorite answer was "You know!  The bald one and the one with the hair!"  Gotta love Kindergarteners!!!  Most of them did know who our two candidates were.  Here are some pictures of us voting!

On Monday, we spent a lot of time learning what it meant to be president.  We talked about what you have to do in order to be president.  We watched a great video from Scholastic that talked about the requirements.  We learned that Justin Bieber can not run for president of the United States because he was born in Canada and is not 35 years old.  This got a lot of giggles!

After learning about the requirements to run for president, we talked about what we would do if we were president.  We made a circle map of things we would do and made campaign posters.  They are adorable!  As President, a lot of us would make lots of money, make jobs, make rules, talk to states, help animals, give toys to kids, keep people safe, and keep our country safe.  So sweet!

Here is one of our campaign posters!
